Little ART in the Trailer goes public

“O little carts of Portland town, how still we flock to thee! We all know the city’s food cart scene: cuisine on the fly, with adulatory press coverage from Bon Appétit to the New York Times. Next in line: art carts, little galleries on wheels. If not here, where? If not Saturday, when? What’s being billed as the first annual Art Carts on Hawthorne will gather from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 13, at Southeast 49th and Hawthorne, by the East Portland Eagle Lodge. There might be art that moves you. There will be movable art. And don’t America and wheels just seem to go together? Art in a Cart reminds me, pleasantly, of Parnassus on Wheels, Christopher Morley’s whimsical 1917 novel about a middle-aged farm woman who runs off to join a traveling bookstore. Well, why not?”
